How do its active ingredients work?
Blueberry and cranberry
They are characterized by their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties (high in resveratrol, anthocyanins, and vitamin C) that help prevent degenerative diseases and stimulate the immune system. On the other hand, they exert a protective effect against urinary tract infections (proanthocyanidins and anthocyanidins). Cranberries are known to have non-stick properties, as they form a “slippery barrier”, which prevents bacteria from adhering to the surface of the urinary tract (thus preventing their multiplication and colonization of the urinary epithelium), facilitating their elimination through the urine. Furthermore, anthocyanidins can act directly on certain bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, breaking down the cytoplasmic membrane and inhibiting its enzymatic activity. This effect helps prevent urinary tract infections, cystitits, and stone formation in cats and dogs.
It is a source of soluble and insoluble fiber with prebiotic properties and regulates intestinal transit, as well as being rich in antioxidants such as betaine, minerals (sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, and iron), and vitamins (B complex and vitamin C). Betaine, as a methyl group donor, has anti-inflammatory and osmoprotectant properties for cells. In addition, its supplementation has been seen to reduce serum uric acid levels and improve kidney function.
Medium chain fatty acids
Coconut pulp contains around 65% of médium-chain fatty acids. These, in addition to being hihgly digestible, possess anti-inflammatory properties, balance intestinal microbiota, strengthen the immune system, protect the brain and cognitive function (since they are capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier and provide energy to the brain), and have anticancer properties (they decrease replication and favor apoptosis of carcinogenic cells).
