How do its active ingredients work?

Pumpkinok

Pumpkin

It is a source of fiber, carotenes, minerals (potassium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, and manganese), and vitamins (A, C, E, K, and folic acid). A balanced diet must contain fibers, as they help the gastrointestinal tract to function properly. In this sense, pumpkin is a rich source of soluble fiber, which helps delay gastric emptying and slows down intestinal transit time. This will be favorable for both diarrhea and constipation episodes. In the former case, by slowing down the intestinal transit time, soluble fiber creates more time for the body to absorb the water it needs to form solid stools. In the latter case, the problem is that there is too much re-absorption of water into de body due to the slow passage of stool through the colon. In this case, soluble fiber keeps part of this water from being re-absorbed by the colon, thus favoring the evacuation of feces.

Carrot

It is a source of fiber, carotenes, vitamins (A, C, and K), and minerals (sodium, potassium, calcium, iron, and magnesium). In addition to the properties that soluble fiber has at the regulation of gastrointestinal transit (see pumpkin), carrots contain some oligosaccharides are created that closely resemble certain receptors found on the walls of the colon. Thus, intestinal pathogenic bacteria, instead of attaching to the intestinal wall (where they multiply, produce toxins, and create powerful inflammation leading to diarrhea), they adhere to these oligosaccharides and can be expelled from the body.

Fructo-oligosaccharides

They are one of the most studied prebiotic fibers. They are found in small amounts in various vegetables and fruits. They withstand digestion and enter the large intestine in an intact form, where they serve as an energy source for the beneficial bacteria (Lactobacillus spp, Bacteroides spp, and Bifidobacterium spp), thus stimulating their growth and/or their activity. As a result of their fermentation, the production of toxic substances (ammonia and biogenic amines) decreases and the release of short-chain fatty acids (acetate, propionate, lactate, and butyrate) increases in the intestinal lumen, reducing the presence of pathogenic bacteria (E. coli and C. perfringens), thanks to the reduction of the colonic pH.

Gingerok

Ginger

It stimulates the secretion of gastric juices and facilitates intestinal transit, thus preventing stomach upset. It is also capable of preventing and treating dizziness and nausea, avoiding thus the occurrence of vomiting. In addition, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties have been described, acting together as a stomach protector, preventing gastritis and the appearance of gastric ulcers.

  • Diarrhea of punctual, recurrent or chronic nature, or por fecal quality.
  • Constipation.
  • Anal gland problems (impaction, inflammation, abscesses, etc).
  • Stomach problems (nausea, vomiting, gastritis, ulcers, etc.).
  • Change of diet: Introduction of a prescription diet, change from one maintenance food to another.
  • Keep the intestinal flora in balance.
  • As a prevention, to maintain a good health status of the animal.
